Recently, Apple is preparing to launch its wearable products to the market, the long-awaited i-watch. According to Reuters News on May 6th, Apple hopes to create a new mobile medical platform with iwatch. But insiders are not optimistic. In fact, the wearable devices were several ups and downs in the past few years. Many international giants all launched their smart wearable products. In April of 2012, Google launched the GoogleGlass, a portable device with the function of smart phone, GPS and camera, which is only a few ounces. Users can operate through voice commands, inside the glass there are micro-camera and head-mounted display system, through which the date can be projected to the small screen in front of users’ right eyes. It also has the functions of smart phones, can take a photo, make a video call, distinguish the directions, surf the internet, deal with the messages and emails. Then, various smart shoes, smart watch, “lord of the ring”, even gloves can make a call, shoes can charge phones, trousers can update state, underwear can deal with messages etc. Smart wearable devices appear thick and fast.
But in fact, most of these products are written in water. The market response is very cold, even the hardcore fans don’t show respect. The users try these devices begin to trash talk. Now some wearable devices, seems cool, but have many problems in the application of daily life. For example, the main function of most smart watches can realize the count of running, GPS and take photos with remote control service. Actually these applications can be realized in the smart phones. But the smart watch cannot replace the smart phone, even can realize the whole function only with the smart phone, which is really useless. The insiders think the smart watch is more like a mini iPodtouch without any innovation.
Moreover, the battery is also a problem. Also take an example of smart watch. Decades ago, watches do not need to be winded every day, and the quartz watch can used three to five years without changing the battery. But in the times of smart watch, it has to be charged every day. Most consumers use a few days, then lose interests, and put it aside and do not want to use it any more.
Insiders said that at present most wearable devices is still for some customers, cannot provide too much value-added features. If the phones can solve these problems, how many consumers are willing to spend this big money, which is a big problem.
Of course, it doesn’t mean a bleak future of wearable devices. But at this moment, those wearable devices seeming full of cool features are difficult to attract the attention of consumers. Those manufacturers interested in developing similar products, should be down-to-earth and make the function of these devices more useful and close to the consumers. Then the wearable devices can really get the recognition of consumers.
For example, the Cloud Blood Pressure Meter of Wulian, is a product like this. The Cloud Blood Pressure Meter doesn’t have any useless value-added functions, but it is for the tracking of human health. Based on ZigBee technology, its power consumption is very small, so it can last for a long time without frequent changing battery. Cloud Blood Pressure Meter can continually capture the user's physiological indicators of blood pressure, pulse, etc., in the event of abnormal data, it will warning, and send data to the doctors, the doctors can judge the health status and accordingly give medical advice. This will not only save public resources, can also share the information, which will provide a more timely and effective health care services to users.
